Jeff Billard
For nearly nine years Jeff served as president of Local 598. With a rare charisma, he helped to turn a sleepy local into a vibrant community. Over his tenure, Jeff was instrumental in ratifying two Collective Agreements with great gains for the bargaining unit, growing our LEC (Local Executive Committee; i.e., your union representatives in the workplace) by 50%, and has helped bolster knowledge about workers' rights and our responsibilities in the workplace. The executive, under his leadership, balanced the union's budget every year, and ensured money was put aside for future initiatives or as a safety net in the case of a future labour dispute.
We want to wish Jeff the very best in whatever challenge he decides to tackle next. Ontario Teachers' is a better organization as a direct result of his contributions. And he's set us up to continue driving positive change.
